The establishment, growth, development, and history of Nauvoo, Illinois under the direction and influence of the Prophet Joseph Smith is unique in the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and America.
\nCity Of Joseph was first produced for the dedication of the NRI Visitor\u2019s Center in Nauvoo during the summer of 1971.
\nCity of Joseph was produced in Nauvoo, Illinois as part of the nation\u2019s Bicentennial celebration in the summer of 1976. This recording stems from that production. The following year it became an official pageant of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which continued for 27 years. It was presented on a 200-foot, 3-level stage that overlooked historic Nauvoo and the bend of the Mississippi River that inspired the production\u2019s opening song.<\/p>\n
