A Hilarious Brew of Bullwinkle with a Dash of Carol Burnett

Three fairy tale princesses are separated at birth and cursed by a bitter old witch–and finding true love is the only way to break the spell.

The setup for this fractured tale is told by – wait for it – Herschel, the Fairy “Tailor,” complete with Yiddish accent. RAPUNZARELLA WHITE follows three baby triplets, Rapunzel, Cinderella, and Snow White, who are cursed, stolen and made miserable by their mother’s angry sister. When the Witch casts an evil spell, each sister is catapulted into her own fractured fairytale—Rapunzel craves junk food, Cinderella has self-esteem issues,  Snow White is allergic to apples, and each dreams of being rescued by a handsome Prince. Beau, Barry, and Burly-Bob may be a little more bashful and bumbling than bright, but with the help of the Fairy Tailor and a little magic, they all live happily ever after! The narrator conducts the Bullwinkle-style 70-minute family musical for 8-18 actors. It can be performed to existing orchestrated tracks or a fully arranged score for a pit band.

    • Winifred/Stepmother — Lead, Female, 30-40 — Cruella DeVil, Jan Maxwell type; casts spells; very angry; mezzo. Ethnicity: All Ethnicities

    • Rapunzel/Stepsister — Lead, Female, 23-29 — a moody mix of Julie Andrews and Joy Behar; a spoiled girl pining for love; soprano. Ethnicity: All Ethnicities

    • Cinderella/Millicent — Lead, Female, 23-30 — Cinderella is Carol Burnett as a love-struck klutz. Millicent is the bereft mother of three kidnapped triplets; she sings a beautiful lullaby; soprano. Ethnicity: All Ethnicities

    • Snow White/Stepsister — Lead, Female, 22-30 — sings like Pat Benatar; great comic timing; soprano. Ethnicity: All Ethnicities

    • Beau/Rhoda — Lead, Male, 24-30 — a self-adoring mix of Gaston and Dudley Do-Right; he croons like a Disney prince. Queen Rhoda is a divorced, martini-drinking Queen Mother who loves her single life; Eve Arden type; baritone. Ethnicity: All Ethnicities

    • Barry/Syd the Fairy GodBrother — Lead, Male, 23-29 — is bookish, quick-witted, a la David Hyde Pierce. Syd has a very dry wit and channels Peter Allen as he grants wishes; good at patter songs; high baritone. Ethnicity: All Ethnicities

    • Prince Burly-Bob — Lead, Male, 23-29 — dumb, emotional, and all heart; onstage drumming skills required; high baritone pop rocker. Ethnicity: All Ethnicities
